DJI Osmo Mobile 8 vs 7P in Kenya: Upgrade Guide

What the KSh 5,100 increase buys
Infinite Tech currently lists the 7P at KSh 14,895 and the 8 at KSh 19,995. Do not treat the price gap as a guarantee of better footage in every scene. The 8’s clearest functional upgrade is unlimited 360-degree pan, plus supported Apple DockKit direct tracking and other refinements DJI documents.
The 7P remains capable
The 7P has a built-in 215 mm extension rod, integrated tripod and a Multifunctional Module in its standard DJI package. It suits interviews, vertical shorts and stationary self-shooting. If your shots rarely require continuous rotation or native iPhone tracking in supported apps, the 7P can be the rational purchase.
When the 8 is the better tool
Moving subjects can require the gimbal to turn repeatedly while keeping the phone level. DJI’s unlimited pan on the 8 offers a creative option that the 7P does not advertise. Compatible iPhone owners also have potential native-camera tracking through DockKit, subject to phone and software requirements.
What buyers should test
Check phone width, thickness and weight with the case installed. Test the actual filming workflow you intend to use: landscape walking, vertical TikTok, supported iPhone tracking or module-based tracking. Distinguish between a phone physically fitting and a software feature actually working.
Frequently asked question
Is Osmo Mobile 8 worth more for every Android owner?
No. Android owners should choose based on physical handling, continuous pan and supported DJI Mimo or module functions; Apple DockKit is an iPhone-specific benefit.
