refurbished desktop computers Kenya — Shopping for a refurbished desktop computer in Kenya should begin with the actual work you want to do, not a processor badge or a dramatic discount. Business-class HP EliteDesk, HP ProDesk and Dell OptiPlex machines can make reliable fixed workstations, but used units differ in chassis size, CPU model, operating-system eligibility, included accessories and condition. This 2026 catalogue guide compares nine available-to-order Infinite Tech listings and explains what must be confirmed before paying.

Last checked: 28 October 2026. Prices and availability can change; configuration details are supplier-stated unless explicitly verified.

Start with tasks, not just processor labels

A shop cashier running POS software needs a dependable SSD, working USB peripherals and stable network connections. An accountant may value two monitor outputs and a RAM upgrade. A student writing assignments may prioritize purchase price and an included display. Core i5, Core i7 and Ryzen 5 labels do not reveal exactly how a given second-hand machine performs. Ask for the complete CPU model, RAM type and live drive specification.

The nine listings below are for system units and not verified complete monitor bundles. Prices are current catalogue asking prices checked on 28 October 2026, not reserved supplier stock.

Best value under KSh 35,000

The HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Ryzen 5 starts at KSh 24,500 with 8GB RAM and 500GB storage, although the type of storage is unconfirmed. At KSh 32,500 there are the HP EliteDesk 705 G5 Ryzen 5 with supplier-stated 4GB graphics, HP ProDesk 400 G5 i5, HP EliteDesk 800 G4 i5 and Dell OptiPlex 7060 i5. These machines serve different buyers even when their list prices match.

The EliteDesk 705 G5 graphics claim especially needs a photo or GPU-model confirmation; 4GB of graphics memory alone does not prove a gaming-ready dedicated card.

When the extra spend makes sense

An EliteDesk 800 G4 Core i7 8th Gen with 500GB storage is listed at KSh 37,500; verify whether its drive is an HDD or SSD. A Core i5 9th Gen HP EliteDesk 800 G5 or Dell OptiPlex 7070 with 512GB SSD costs KSh 42,500. The i7 9th Gen EliteDesk 800 G5 at KSh 47,500 adds processor-tier headroom.

Compare the actual CPU, the SSD’s usable health and whether expansion is physically possible. For sustained video editing, virtualization or design work, 16GB RAM and a suitable GPU may matter more than moving from an i5 badge to an i7 badge.

Condition and support are part of the price

Refurbished, ex-UK, ex-USA and locally used are seller-condition descriptions, not universal grading standards. Request pictures of the actual unit, screen outputs, power supply and any dents or damage. Ask how it was tested, what the warranty covers and whether the Windows licence is genuine and activated.

Check total cost including screen, keyboard, mouse, DisplayPort adapters, Wi-Fi dongle, delivery and installation. A cheaper system unit may produce a more expensive complete setup.

Check Windows 11 on the exact unit

Microsoft’s Windows 11 requirements include compatible processor, TPM 2.0 and UEFI/Secure Boot capability. Although many 8th- and 9th-generation Intel CPU families are supported, firmware settings and actual installed parts matter. Windows 10 standard support ended on 14 October 2025. Do not accept a generic ‘Windows 11 compatible’ claim without an actual eligibility test.

Use the official Windows 11 specifications and ask the supplier to run PC Health Check on the unit offered.

Choosing a reputable Nairobi desktop supplier

A strong retailer should state the exact processor generation, memory, storage technology, chassis type, what’s in the box, return conditions and support channel. Browse Infinite Tech’s desktop computer catalogue and request photographs or test results rather than assuming one manufacturer picture shows the particular computer delivered.

Frequently asked questions

Which refurbished desktop is cheapest in this comparison?

The listed HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Ryzen 5 at KSh 24,500 is the lowest-priced of these nine offers; check storage type and actual configuration.

Does a refurbished desktop include a monitor?

Not by default. None of these nine supplier lines confirms a monitor, keyboard or mouse bundle. Ask for an itemised quote.

Is a 256GB SSD enough for office work?

Often for documents and ordinary programs, but capacity depends on your files, backups and software. A 512GB SSD gives more headroom.

Should I pick i5 or i7?

Compare exact CPU models and workloads. An i7 badge is not a substitute for more RAM or a needed graphics card.

Are all 8th-generation desktops Windows 11-ready?

No blanket assurance is appropriate; test the individual unit against Microsoft’s full requirements.

What should I ask about a used desktop warranty?

Ask for warranty duration, covered components, exclusions, return procedure and whether testing is done before dispatch.
