Which Android Phones Work With DJI Osmo Mobile Gimbals?
Quick answer: For Android buyers, device compatibility must include mechanical fit and supported app functions, not just a broad brand list.
Products to compare: DJI Osmo Mobile 8 — KSh 19,995 and DJI Osmo Mobile 7 — KSh 10,895. DJI prices were checked 31 October 2026, and current selling prices can change.
Start with physical dimensions
Check the exact phone model’s actual width, thickness and weight including its fitted case and any detachable lens. DJI lists supported phone ranges for each Osmo Mobile model; the commonly quoted band for these devices is about 170–300 g in weight and 67–84 mm in width. A phone can fit a clamp but still balance poorly with accessories.
Software support is separate
Some functions are offered through DJI Mimo, while module-based tracking uses compatible hardware. Apple DockKit is not an Android feature. Verify the latest supported-device list and app version rather than relying on a reseller saying any phone runs all DJI filming functions.
A safe shop test
Pair the correct Android phone, check portrait and landscape recording, test expected resolution in the chosen camera app and confirm any intended tracking mode. Try a short walking clip and check whether the camera bump or case interferes with movement. This practical test is more useful than matching smartphone brand names alone.
Which Osmo model makes sense
The DJI Osmo Mobile 7 is the cost-effective starter. The 7P supplies an integrated extension rod. The 8 adds 360-degree pan even without Apple DockKit, while the 8P’s remote controls appeal to particular solo workflows. Choose by hardware needs and software fit.
Frequently asked question
Is Android support equivalent to Apple DockKit compatibility?
No. DockKit is Apple-specific; Android requires evaluation of other DJI-supported recording and tracking options.
