DJI Osmo Mobile 8 vs 8P in Kenya: Which Is Worth Buying?
Quick answer: Both models deliver three-axis smartphone stabilization and unlimited horizontal pan. The buying decision hinges on how much value you put on remote framing rather than simply on the word ‘Pro’.

The actual price difference
Infinite Tech lists the Osmo Mobile 8 at KSh 19,995 and the 8P Standard Combo at KSh 22,995, a KSh 3,000 difference as of 31 October 2026. That premium should buy a feature you will use repeatedly. It is not automatically justified by ordinary handheld walking footage, because the standard 8 already supplies strong stabilization.
What the 8P changes
DJI positions the 8P as the remote-framing model. Its detachable Osmo FrameTap allows supported control and framing when the phone is not directly in your hands. The 8P also uses a split-design tripod rather than the standard 8’s integrated design. Both have the built-in extension rod; unlimited 360-degree pan is not exclusive to the 8P.
Standard Combo is not every accessory combo
The phrase Standard Combo matters. Confirm its phone clamp, FrameTap and included cables against the supplier box. Do not assume the Multifunctional Module 2, a dedicated microphone or an Advanced Tracking Combo accessory is included merely because an 8P product photo shows one. Ask for a photo of the sealed retail box if accessories determine your purchase.
Which buyer should choose each
Choose the 8 if you mainly film while holding a phone: city walks, family events, travel clips and moving subjects. Choose the 8P if you often film alone using the rear camera at a distance and want remote framing. With either model, review DJI’s phone compatibility and the app features supported by your handset.
Frequently asked question
Is the Osmo Mobile 8P automatically better video quality?
Not necessarily. Both stabilize a compatible smartphone; the camera sensor, lens and filming technique still determine image quality. The 8P principally adds remote-framing capabilities.
