Why the A57 deserves its own review
The Galaxy A57 5G is an unusually relevant midrange purchase because Samsung positions it as a thinner, lighter device with newer software support and improved protection. Its 6.9mm profile and approximately 179g body can be felt every day; those are more practical distinctions than inflated synthetic performance promises. It is appropriate for office users, students and creators who prefer a polished device without paying for Galaxy S Ultra features.
Screen, weight and handling
The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED Plus supports up to 120Hz. That gives ample space for reading, spreadsheets, streaming and social media. Unlike some larger, heavier premium phones, the A57 focuses on a thinner chassis. A lighter body can also feel less tiring for long reading sessions, but the best fit depends on hand size, case choice and whether you prefer single-hand operation.
Cameras and AI tools: what you really get
Samsung’s official African model lists 50MP OIS main, 12MP ultra-wide and 5MP macro cameras, with a 12MP selfie sensor. AI photo tools such as Object Eraser, Best Face and Circle to Search are highlighted, but their availability can vary by software and network access. No dedicated optical telephoto exists. We cannot claim to have photographed scenes in Nairobi with this particular device or tested its night-video performance.
IP68, updates and longer ownership
Samsung advertises IP68 and up to six OS generations and six years of security support. That creates a reasonable longer-use argument for buyers who want to keep a phone, provided local update delivery and warranties match expectations. Water resistance can diminish and is not a waterproof warranty for pool or sea use. Always confirm authentic stock and the correct regional model.
Is A57 really better value than A56?
The Galaxy A56 review remains useful because the older model may offer similar day-to-day capability for less money. Paying more for A57 makes the most sense when you value its lighter construction, protection and longer forward-looking support. Compare matching 8GB/256GB variants, not a low-storage A56 against a high-storage A57.
