Samsung Galaxy A56 5G review: should you buy it in Kenya in 2026?

The Samsung Galaxy A56 5G is a sensible midrange option for people who value a quality AMOLED screen, long-term ownership, dependable camera versatility and a recognised service ecosystem more than a flagship badge. The strongest reasons to consider it are its 6.7-inch 120Hz Super AMOLED display, stabilised 50MP main camera, 5,000mAh rated battery, IP67 resistance and Samsung software ecosystem. It is less compelling for buyers whose first priority is maximum gaming performance, optical telephoto zoom or Samsung DeX.

Verdict: A credible all-rounder for office workers, students and creators who want mainstream Samsung features without flagship pricing, provided the live price is competitive with alternative Galaxy models and other phones in Kenya.

Core Galaxy A56 specifications

What everyday buyers will notice about the display

The 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display is well suited to reading, work chats, YouTube and entertainment. Support for up to 120Hz makes scrolling feel smoother than conventional 60Hz displays in supported situations. But refresh rate is not the same as game frame rate, and image brightness depends on automatic brightness settings and environment. Buyers who prefer lightweight, compact phones should handle this relatively large device before deciding.

Galaxy A56 camera review: useful versus flashy numbers

The 50MP primary camera with OIS is the important camera in the system for many casual users, while the 12MP ultra-wide can fit landscapes or groups and the 5MP macro targets close subjects. The 12MP selfie camera is convenient for calls and social content. The A56 does not advertise a dedicated optical telephoto lens like high-end Galaxy S Ultra phones, so it should not be sold as delivering the same distant zoom quality. Look at comparable full-resolution camera samples in daylight and low light before buying; we have not shot a controlled photo set with this unit.

Battery life and charging: what the 5,000mAh label means

5,000mAh is the typical battery capacity, not a promise of a specific screen-on time for every Kenyan customer. Screen brightness, 5G coverage, gaming, background apps and mobile-data usage all affect endurance. Check whether the particular sales package includes a power adapter rather than assuming one. If you are upgrading from an older phone, compare your actual charging routine, accessory compatibility and expected usage.

8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage?

Most casual buyers should evaluate storage separately from RAM. If you keep many videos, large WhatsApp downloads and photos, 256GB can be worth paying for. The 12GB/256GB offer at Infinite Tech is another configuration for heavy multitasking. RAM capacity alone does not make the main camera, display or mobile network more advanced; compare total price and your workload before paying extra. Samsung’s press specifications confirm that regional memory configurations vary.

Security, updates and practical ownership

Samsung Knox and the Galaxy software ecosystem may appeal to people who use banking apps and work accounts. The factory IP67 rating is a durability feature, not encouragement to take a used or repaired phone swimming. Warranty exclusions can apply to liquid damage. Verify current update eligibility and the country-specific warranty for the delivered device rather than interpreting generic global support statements as a guaranteed local service agreement.

Galaxy A56 versus A55, A36 and older flagships

Compare an older Galaxy A-series buyer comparison only for broader purchasing principles; the A56 is a different tier. If you are deciding between Galaxy A36 and A56, read Infinite Tech’s Galaxy A36 versus A56 guide. Buyers who need an S Pen, telephoto zoom or premium processor should also look at older Galaxy S flagships and pay special attention to battery health and condition.
