PS5: Design

The PlayStation 5 has a white and black modern design with a blue LED strip. This gives the console a futuristic look like it’s an object straight out of a SyFy movie. The PlayStation is primarily meant to be placed standing up or vertical but it can also lie on its side. The size of the PS5 is 390x104x260mm, so it’s slightly taller and wider than the PS4 Pro, which was 327x55x295mm.

PS5: Controller

The Sony PlayStation 5 arrives with a single new DualSense controller that will have haptic (noticeable) feedback. This controller has been redesigned with a built-in microphone and has several new functions, such as haptic feedback and adaptive triggers that adapt to the game you’re playing. The haptic feedback produces different types of vibrations, so you can feel the difference in the surface during a racing game, for example.

The adaptive triggers ensure that you experience a specific tension when pressing the L2 and R2 triggers. You notice this difference, for example, when pulling a trigger, firing an arrow, or pressing the accelerator while racing. When it comes to appearance, the controllers look a bit like the current DualShock V2 controller. The name of the controller is DualSense, like a successor of the current DualShock 4. You can still use your PS4 controller on the PS5, just not while gaming.

PS5: Performance

The PS5 has hardware that delivers outstanding performance. The custom RDNA2 GPU (10.28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23 GHz (variable frequency) provides stunning and smooth images backed a 16GB RAM. You can play games at 4K with a maximum refresh rate of 120 frames per second. In addition, the PS5 has a custom AMD Zen 2-based CPU with 8 cores at 3.5 GHz (variable frequency) for more computing power and an SSD that ensures games load up to 20 times faster than on the PlayStation 4.

All this allows you to experience games even more intensely and enjoy them longer. In addition, the console offers 3D audio, with which you are surrounded by sound and hear exactly where sounds come from. This version of the PlayStation 5 has a disk drive and offers you the possibility to play Blu-ray discs.
