This accessory is useful for buyers who chose a compatible Digital Edition or PS5 Pro but later want physical PS5 games, supported PS4 discs or 4K UHD Blu-ray media. It is not a universal drive for every PS5 chassis.

Which PS5 models are compatible?

Sony specifies compatibility with the CFI-2000 PS5 Slim model group and PS5 Pro. It should not be presented as compatible with the original CFI-1000 launch-generation PS5 Digital Edition. If you are unsure of your model, confirm the console model number before ordering.

Disc Drive for PS5 Pro

The PS5 Pro 2TB does not have an integrated optical drive, so this accessory is the route to compatible physical-disc support where required.

Disc Drive for PS5 Slim Digital

Compatible PS5 Slim Digital 1TB consoles can use the detachable drive after proper installation and initial online pairing. Buyers choosing between Digital plus Drive and the PS5 Slim Disc Edition should compare total cost and whether they need physical media from day one.

Setup and pairing

An internet connection is required for initial drive pairing with the compatible console. Follow Sony’s installation and setup instructions and avoid assuming the drive will function on an unsupported chassis simply because it physically resembles another PS5 model.

What to check before ordering

• Confirm your PS5 model number and chassis generation.
• Confirm CFI-2000 Slim or PS5 Pro compatibility.
• Ensure internet access is available for initial pairing.
• Confirm whether your goal is PS5/PS4 game discs, Blu-ray media or both.
• Review the current live price and stock status.
• Do not buy this for an original launch PS5 Digital Edition without verified compatibility.
