Best story-driven PS5 games: quick comparison

Best premium story game: Ghost of Yōtei

Ghost of Yōtei is a strong premium choice for players who want a modern action-adventure with a strong sense of place, exploration and narrative focus. Its KSh 8,300 price places it above many established story games, so it is best for buyers specifically seeking a newer premium experience.

Best emotional story: The Last of Us

The Last of Us Part I and Part II Remastered are natural recommendations for players who want character-driven storytelling, tension and mature themes. They are not light family games, so age ratings and content should be considered carefully.

Best cinematic adventure value: UNCHARTED

UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection at KSh 4,800 is one of the best value story-first choices in the catalogue. It combines cinematic action, exploration, puzzles and strong characters while staying below KSh 5,000.

Best mythology-driven story: God of War Ragnarök

God of War Ragnarök at KSh 5,500 mixes large-scale action with a strong family story and mythological setting. It is an excellent choice for players who want both satisfying combat and a campaign they can follow closely.

Best psychological narrative: Alan Wake 2

Alan Wake 2 is more appropriate for players who enjoy mystery, psychological horror and slower narrative discovery. It is less suitable for someone who simply wants constant action, but its atmosphere is a key reason to choose it.

Best RPG story: Final Fantasy VII Rebirth

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth combines RPG progression with a large cast, cinematic scenes and a story designed for players who want to spend substantial time with its characters. Cyberpunk 2077 and Yakuza: Like a Dragon provide very different RPG alternatives for sci-fi and urban-drama fans.

Best story games under KSh 5,000

UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection and Yakuza: Like a Dragon are both KSh 4,800, while Judgment is KSh 4,900. These are excellent options for buyers who want strong narrative experiences while keeping the budget below KSh 5,000.

How to choose a story-driven PS5 game

• Choose the tone: hopeful adventure, dark drama, horror, crime or fantasy.
• Check campaign length: some stories are compact while RPGs can take dozens of hours.
• Consider age suitability: many narrative-heavy games contain mature themes.
• Decide how much exploration you want: linear cinematic games feel very different from open worlds.
• Do not judge only by graphics: the story style should match what keeps you engaged.
