Best POCO Phones Under KSh 40,000 in Kenya: M7 vs M8 and Alternatives
Quick answer: Among the specific models currently listed under KSh 40,000 at Infinite Tech, POCO M7 8/256GB is the battery-oriented 4G choice at KSh 29,000, while POCO M8 5G 8/256GB costs KSh 36,500 and adds 5G with a 120Hz AMOLED display.
POCO M7: for battery life and a lower budget
The POCO M7 4G uses Snapdragon 685, a large 6.9-inch FHD+ screen with up to 144Hz refresh and a 7,000mAh typical battery with 33W charging. The appeal is rated battery capacity and practical storage at KSh 29,000. Buyers prioritising battery and simple everyday usage may prefer it over more expensive 5G models. Note that it is a 4G handset; do not buy it assuming 5G access.
POCO M8 5G: for screen quality and connectivity
The M8 5G uses Snapdragon 6 Gen 3, has a 6.77-inch Flow AMOLED screen up to 120Hz, 5,520mAh typical battery and 45W charging. At KSh 36,500 it offers a different balance of cellular connectivity, visual quality and portability. Buyers should verify their preferred Safaricom or Airtel network bands against the device’s exact regional specifications.
A nearby alternative: POCO M8 Pro 8/256GB
Infinite Tech also lists M8 Pro 5G 8/256GB at KSh 38,000. Although the 12GB/512GB version costs KSh 48,500, this 8GB version falls within the KSh 40,000 ceiling and deserves serious consideration: it brings a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 platform and 100W HyperCharge support. Compare configuration and warranty rather than assuming the Pro is beyond budget.
What about older POCO stock?
Older models such as POCO M6 Pro 8/256GB may be cheaper, but check age, updates, condition and warranty carefully. A lower sticker price is not good value if you will need to replace the battery or software support sooner. Avoid comparing promotional prices of products that are actually out of stock.
Best buyer fit
Choose M7 for lower cost and large rated battery; choose M8 for 5G and AMOLED; compare M8 Pro 8/256GB if you want processing headroom and faster charging under the same budget. Verify the exact variant, return policy, after-sales contact and availability before ordering.
