Best POCO Gaming Phones in Kenya 2026: M, X and F Series Compared

Quick answer: For demanding games, start with the POCO F9 Ultra, F8 Pro, X8 Pro Max and X8 Pro; for a more affordable gaming phone, compare the older X7 Pro and M8 Pro. The most expensive device is not necessarily the best buy for your specific game.

What makes a phone genuinely good for gaming in Kenya?

CPU and GPU speed influence scene complexity and frame-rate potential, but a good gaming phone also needs stable thermals, sufficient memory, usable touch controls, display brightness and reliable network connectivity. Do not confuse a screen capable of 120Hz or 185Hz with every game actually rendering that many unique frames. Some high frame-rate modes are available only with supported titles, software versions or interpolation. For Nairobi buyers, look beyond marketing benchmarks and match settings to the games you use.

The flagship tier: F9 Ultra versus F8 Pro

Xiaomi lists Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, VisionBoost D8, an 8,050mAh typical battery, 100W wired/50W wireless charging and a 185Hz display for the F9 Ultra. F8 Pro offers Snapdragon 8 Elite, 6,210mAh typical battery and a 120Hz display at KSh 76,500, compared with KSh 115,500 for Ultra. The KSh 39,000 premium is most defensible if you will benefit from newer hardware, extra RAM, larger battery and advanced imaging.

X8 Pro and X8 Pro Max: the middle-ground gaming choice

POCO X8 Pro’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra and 6,500mAh typical battery suit buyers prioritising performance per shilling. X8 Pro Max upgrades to Dimensity 9500s and 8,500mAh typical battery. For sustained sessions, more rated capacity can help reduce charging interruptions, although battery life depends on brightness, mobile signal, temperature, game settings and frame-rate limits. Both have variants that need to be compared by actual RAM and storage.

The budget end: M8 Pro and X7 Pro

The M8 Pro 5G has Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 with a 1.5K AMOLED panel. The older X7 Pro has Dimensity 8400-Ultra and is listed at KSh 44,995 in the 12GB/512GB configuration; a good reason to compare it before buying a newer midrange model. For lightweight games, a less expensive M-series phone may meet your needs without forcing a flagship budget.

How to choose without misleading FPS claims

Ask which game, graphics preset, room temperature and mobile network were used for any demonstrated frame-rate figure. If a seller claims 120fps in eFootball, PUBG or COD Mobile, request a real session with the relevant software build. Stability over 30 minutes matters more than a short burst peak.
