Key differences that affect your purchase
Processor and exact SKU
Both the Dell Latitude 7390 2-in-1 and ThinkPad X390 Yoga provide touch-enabled business-convertible form factors. The linked examples share eighth-generation Core i5, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD.
RAM, storage and software
The strongest difference may be keyboard feel, pen implementation, hinge mechanics and port placement—not the headline CPU label. Buyers taking handwritten notes should test the included pen and palm rejection in person.
Display, ports and practical use
For a mobile presenter, compare screen brightness with overhead lighting, tent-mode stability and whether the charger remains secure when the device is repositioned.
Used-device condition and support
Refurbished device pricing puts Dell below Lenovo in these two particular listings, but the price gap must be weighed against cosmetic condition, battery health and warranty length before selecting a winner.
Which one should a Kenyan buyer actually choose?
Choose the 7390 2-in-1 if its hinges, touch response and battery test pass and you want the lower listed entry price. Choose X390 Yoga if you prefer its keyboard or pen setup and the actual supplied accessories justify it. For an office employee, think in terms of Excel, email, conferencing, portability and durability. For a student, consider whether learning software runs on officially supported Windows, how much local storage is needed and whether a touchscreen or pen really adds value.
Heavy workloads—CAD, gaming, video rendering or advanced machine-learning tasks—need requirements checked separately. A normal business convertible is not automatically a dedicated-GPU workstation, even when the CPU badge says Core i7.
Five practical tests before checkout
- Confirm processor: capture the exact CPU SKU in Settings → System → About, and validate it against the manufacturer’s model-family specification.
- Confirm memory and storage: verify installed RAM and total usable SSD space, and ask whether the RAM is soldered or socketed.
- Inspect the screen: test brightness, dead pixels, hinges, webcam, keyboard, touch response and any stylus where relevant.
- Run a battery report: use
powercfg /batteryreportto compare full-charge versus design capacity. Review the report in context rather than promising hours of runtime. - Check platform security and warranty: verify Windows 11 eligibility through Microsoft PC Health Check plus TPM/firmware and obtain written refurbished warranty/return details.
