Kenya buying guide updated October 2026. The connector is a critical part of microphone compatibility. A digital USB-C receiver, Lightning iPhone receiver and analogue 3.5mm camera microphone carry audio differently even if the microphones look similar. Infinite Tech has compared product prices from the currently published catalogue; actual online prices may change after publication.

Step-by-step guide: choosing the right setup

USB-C receivers: verify support for USB audio on the actual Android/iPhone USB-C model and the intended camera or recording app. Before paying: verify the manufacturer SKU, supplied accessories and compatibility.
Lightning receiver: use on compatible Lightning iPhones and check whether the accessory works with your iOS release. Before paying: verify the manufacturer SKU, supplied accessories and compatibility.
3.5mm TRS versus TRRS: camera and smartphone wiring differ; a suitable adapter may be required and not all sockets are inputs. Before paying: verify the manufacturer SKU, supplied accessories and compatibility.
USB desktop microphones: USB-C connector shape alone does not mean any phone supports the desktop microphone’s class and power needs. Before paying: verify the manufacturer SKU, supplied accessories and compatibility.
XLR is another distinct audio interface and usually requires an appropriately powered recorder, mixer or audio interface. Before paying: verify the manufacturer SKU, supplied accessories and compatibility.

Microphone recording and sound quality checklist

Whether you are filming on a phone, recording to a camera or singing through a loudspeaker, start by testing the whole signal chain from microphone to receiver, app, mixer or speaker. Set levels low enough to avoid clipping, then increase only as needed. Use a windscreen outdoors and position directional or lavalier microphones close enough to capture a strong voice signal.

Where an exact supplier package is ambiguous, verify model suffix, transmitter count and connector before dispatch. Multiple receivers that look nearly identical can be intended for different phones; a microphone that works with a PartyBox is not necessarily a phone recording interface. Read the product details before checkout.

Frequently asked questions

Does a USB-C port always support a digital microphone?

Check the manufacturer’s model-specific compatibility documentation; connector shape alone does not guarantee an active audio input or receiver pairing.

Can I convert Lightning microphone audio using a charging adapter?

Start from the exact device and source of audio. Plug-in wireless phone receivers and conventional speaker microphones are designed for different uses.

What is TRS versus TRRS?

Use the correct gain setting, microphone distance, mounting and noise/wind protection before judging product sound quality.

Which connector should I use with a DSLR?

Inspect the supplied microphones, receiver, cables and chargers; some sellers list single and dual bundles under very similar names.
