POCO F9 Ultra is capable of high-refresh gaming on supported titles, but the manufacturer's 185Hz and 185fps claims need context. This guide explains what specifications really mean for Kenyan buyers without pretending we have run independent tests.

For demanding games, start with the POCO F9 Ultra, F8 Pro, X8 Pro Max and X8 Pro; for a more affordable gaming phone, compare the older X7 Pro and M8 Pro. The most expensive device is not necessarily the best buy for your specific game.

X8 Pro offers a newer Dimensity platform, larger 6,500mAh battery and 100W charging; X7 Pro remains an attractive value option at the currently listed KSh 44,995, compared with KSh 63,000 for the X8 Pro 12/512GB.

F8 Pro is the value flagship at KSh 76,500; F9 Ultra at KSh 115,500 is intended for buyers who will actually use its newer flagship chipset, larger 8,050mAh battery, 185Hz display and advanced camera features.

M8 is the less expensive everyday 5G choice; M8 Pro adds Snapdragon 7s Gen 4, a 6,500mAh battery, 100W charging and a higher-resolution display, particularly in the 12GB/512GB configuration.

At the same KSh 76,500 Infinite Tech price, X8 Pro Max prioritises an 8,500mAh battery and larger screen, while F8 Pro offers Snapdragon 8 Elite, a smaller 6.59-inch display and a more camera-versatile F-series feature set.

The 12GB/512GB version costs KSh 7,000 more at Infinite Tech. Buy it for extra app headroom and double the storage, not because the base processor or camera is different.

Choose the X8 Pro for lower cost, manageable size and fast gaming; move to X8 Pro Max when battery size, more flagship-class processing and long sessions matter enough to justify the premium.
