Quick answer: For larger offices and demanding computers, the Lightwave 1500VA, 2000VA and 3000VA choices deserve more careful comparison than simply choosing the biggest printed number.

Updated 29 October 2026. Prices are subject to change; confirm current stock, final checkout price, exact manufacturer model and warranty before ordering.

1500VA: start from an actual load schedule

At KSh 12,995, the Lightwave 1500VA UPS is a commercial option to investigate for larger desktop or office equipment loads. List all devices that need power at once: PC, monitor, internet equipment, storage and peripherals. Ensure both their total VA and running wattage fit within the manufacturer’s confirmed output ratings with appropriate headroom.

2000VA: extra headroom is not proof of longer runtime

The Lightwave 2000VA UPS is listed at KSh 16,995. It offers a higher apparent-power category, but the exact watt rating, battery arrangement and permissible equipment depend on the genuine model. If a desktop uses an active-PFC PSU, confirm waveform and compatibility before relying on it during a power loss.

3000VA: evaluate real business requirements

The Lightwave 3000VA UPS is currently KSh 22,995. For small business networks and workstations, greater capacity may be relevant. But a 3000VA backup UPS is not automatically the same device as a 3KVA online double-conversion system, and the two should never be conflated in technical claims, prices or schema metadata.

Standard 2000VA versus supplier LCD option

There is also a Lightwave 2000VA LCD UPS at KSh 17,495. Its label in the supplier list specifically mentions LCD. Before recommending one over the other, compare manufacturer part numbers and available display data. A screen is a usability distinction, not a measurement of battery endurance or output capability.

Design for the actual power outage

For a workstation that only needs five minutes to save work and shut down, a modest runtime can be suitable. For a CCTV recording system that must keep recording for several hours, a standard desktop UPS may be the wrong architecture. A more appropriate backup design might involve external batteries or dedicated systems, depending on electrical requirements and qualified installation.

Total cost of ownership

Check replacement-battery access, servicing availability, operating noise, plug type, warranty, local support and estimated lifespan. A cheaper initial price can be outweighed by proprietary batteries, poor replacement availability or an unsuitable transfer behaviour. Confirm each claim for the exact model rather than generalizing from unrelated UPS brands.

Questions buyers ask

Can I run an office server on the 3000VA?

Confirm full server power draw, transfer-time tolerance, waveform and manufacturer guidance; some servers need online UPS protection.

Does higher VA increase battery life?

Only if battery energy and the load profile support it.

Is the 2000VA LCD an online UPS?

An LCD display does not establish online topology. Confirm manufacturer part number first.
