Detailed buying analysis
What HP actually specified
HP’s service documentation lists the Ryzen 5 PRO 3500U and Ryzen 7 PRO 3700U among EliteBook 745 G6 processors. Both have four cores and eight threads; the Ryzen 7 PRO has different graphics and clock characteristics. Performance depends on power, cooling and memory bandwidth.
The important graphics distinction
The Ryzen 5 version uses integrated Vega 8 and the Ryzen 7 version uses integrated Vega 10. These are not dedicated GPUs with fixed independent VRAM. Shared memory allocations shown in Windows must never be advertised as a separate graphics card.
How to compare current Infinite Tech offers
Infinite Tech has separate Ryzen 5 and Ryzen 7 listings. Compare the actual CPU suffix, RAM, SSD, touch/non-touch screen and live selling price. The Ryzen 7 supplier unit is specified as 8GB/256GB non-touch; other Ryzen 7 configurations can have more memory and storage.
Buying used versus buying a different generation
For basic Office, Zoom, e-learning and online research, the Ryzen 5 can be sufficient. A buyer expecting demanding Adobe, 3D or CAD performance should check software requirements rather than assume a Ryzen 7 EliteBook substitutes for a dedicated workstation.
Before buying this laptop in Kenya: four non-negotiable checks
- Verify the precise CPU suffix in the BIOS or operating-system system-information screen; a marketing generation label is not proof of the installed processor.
- Ask for the actual RAM and SSD capacity, screen resolution, touch status and any GPU information. Manufacturer family specifications describe available options rather than the unique stock unit.
- Evaluate battery condition, charger, keyboard, ports, screen, webcam and Wi-Fi, and request the written warranty before placing a deposit.
- Compare the current product-page prices and availability instead of relying on a blog price quoted months earlier. Different RAM, touch and storage configurations must not share a misleading comparison price.

Who should choose which?
Students and online learners: prioritise reliable battery condition, enough RAM, the right screen size and a strong SSD rather than an impressive processor badge. Office buyers: consider keyboard comfort, USB ports, external display support and webcam quality. Power users: verify application requirements, sustained performance, exact CPU/GPU, memory limitations and cooling before buying.
