Fighter Within Xbox Buying Guide: Kinect Requirements Explained
Fighter Within requires Kinect for Xbox One and a compatible Xbox One console. It is a motion-controlled fighting game, so check the hardware before ordering. An Xbox Series X or Series S is not a suitable console for this game, even though many other Xbox One games work on newer Xbox systems.
The Fighter Within Xbox One listing at Infinite Tech is KSh 4,995 in this catalogue check. That is the game price, not a promise that a sensor, adapter or console is included.
Prices checked against the Infinite Tech catalogue on 21 October 2026. Open each product page for the current price and stock, and confirm the supplied edition and format before ordering. Official artwork illustrates the game; it is not a photograph of the supplied copy.
Fighter Within hardware checklist
| Item | What to confirm |
|---|---|
| Console | A compatible Xbox One model, rather than Xbox Series X or Series S |
| Motion sensor | Kinect for Xbox One; do not buy a different Kinect generation by mistake |
| Connection | The correct connection or adapter for the exact Xbox One model |
| Game copy | The supplied Xbox One format and edition, plus a compatible disc drive if it is physical |
| Playing area | A suitable area where the sensor can track the players and movements |
| Package contents | Written confirmation of what is supplied with the game and what you still need |
Why a normal controller is not enough
The official Fighter Within manual separates menu navigation from motion-controlled combat. You can use an Xbox One controller in the menus, but combat is built around Kinect tracking punches, kicks and other movements. Reaching the menu with a controller does not demonstrate that you can play without the sensor.
If you want a conventional controller-based fighting game, choose a product designed for that control method. One Piece: Burning Blood is another Xbox fighting option at KSh 4,995 in the current comparison, particularly for fans of its characters. Confirm its supplied format and compatibility too.
Check the Xbox One connection before buying accessories
The original Xbox One and later Xbox One models do not all connect Kinect in the same way. Microsoft’s Xbox One S launch guidance explains that One S removed the dedicated Kinect port and uses the Xbox Kinect Adapter for USB connection. Check the exact One X connection requirements against Xbox’s Kinect setup guidance if that is your model.
Ask the accessory seller to identify the sensor, adapter, power supply and cables and to demonstrate the complete setup. Do not order a random USB cable on the assumption it performs the adapter’s job. This guide confirms no current sensor or adapter stock at Infinite Tech; ask separately if you need hardware.
Why it is unsuitable for Xbox Series X|S
Fighter Within’s official Xbox page lists Xbox One and identifies Kinect-based gameplay. Microsoft’s move to Series X|S excludes Kinect-required titles from its broad Xbox One compatibility offering. Buying a sensor does not turn Fighter Within into a supported Series game.
If you own the Xbox Series X 1TB or a Series S, use our Xbox games buying guide to choose another title. The low purchase price of an incompatible game does not make it a useful addition to that console.
Who should consider buying it?
Fighter Within is mainly worth considering if you already have a working Xbox One Kinect setup and specifically want motion-controlled fighting. The official manual describes solo training and fighting modes as well as local multiplayer. The Xbox listing identifies local multiplayer for two players.
Before buying for a household, check that the intended players want this control method, review the official age rating and confirm that the sensor can track the setup you plan to use. This is a different purchase decision from selecting a seated controller fighter or an online co-op shooter.
Check the total cost before committing
Start with the game price, then list every missing item. If you still need a console, sensor, adapter, cables or delivery, ask for those costs before deciding the game fits your budget. A game-only budget of KSh 5,000 leaves KSh 5 at the stated price and does not cover missing hardware.
If you do not already own the required setup, compare the other Xbox games under KSh 5,000 first. For online groups, our Monster Hunter World vs Payday 2 comparison may be more relevant. For football, use the FC 27 vs FC 26 Xbox guide.
Questions and answers
Can I play Fighter Within without Kinect?
No. Kinect for Xbox One is required for its motion-controlled gameplay.
Can a controller operate the menus?
Yes, according to the official manual. That does not replace Kinect during combat.
Does it work on Xbox Series X?
No. Choose another game for Series X.
Does it work on Xbox Series S?
No. Series S is not a supported Kinect setup for this title.
Which Kinect generation should I check?
Kinect for Xbox One. Do not assume an Xbox 360 sensor is the same accessory.
Does Xbox One S need an adapter?
Yes. Microsoft’s One S guidance specifies the Xbox Kinect Adapter because the console lacks the original dedicated port.
Is Kinect included in KSh 4,995?
Only if the supplied package explicitly says so. This guide quotes the game listing price.
Can two people play locally?
The official Xbox listing identifies two-player local multiplayer. A suitable working Kinect setup is still required.
How much playing space do I need?
Check Xbox’s setup guidance and test tracking in your room. This guide does not promise a universal minimum room size.
What should I send the shop before ordering?
Your full Xbox One model, whether you already own Kinect and an adapter, and the format of the game copy you want.
