Should a Kenyan buyer upgrade from A26 to A36?
The Galaxy A36 5G is a strong candidate for buyers wanting a balanced midrange Samsung with a substantial 256GB storage option. Its differentiators include 45W charging support and a camera mix with a 5MP macro in the verified regional specification. For buyers who only need WhatsApp, voice calls and light streaming, the less expensive A26 may already be sufficient; the A36 makes more sense when the ownership horizon and added features justify the difference.
AMOLED 120Hz display and daily productivity
A 6.7-inch Super AMOLED at FHD+ resolution and up to 120Hz supports comfortable document reading, streaming and scrolling. The phone can function as a convenient mobile office for email, spreadsheets and business messaging, although a laptop is still better for long multi-document work. Actual app performance depends on storage space and software updates. Its 8GB physical RAM tier gives more capacity for background apps than the smallest entry variants.
Camera evaluation: OIS, wide-angle and video
The 50MP wide camera has OIS, while the 8MP ultra-wide offers a larger field of view and the 5MP macro targets near objects. None is a dedicated long telephoto camera. Buyers planning social video should examine video stabilisation, microphone clarity and performance in mixed lighting; these cannot be certified from a published specification sheet. We have not conducted side-by-side camera measurements.
Charging: 45W is a capability, not the box contents
Samsung supports 45W wired charging on A36, but charging speed depends on a compatible power adapter, cable, battery state and thermal conditions. Do not assume an appropriate charger is bundled. The 5,000mAh capacity is the typical specification and not a tested guarantee of one or two days in every environment. Heavy 5G use, gaming and hotspot operation consume more power.
A36 versus A56 and practical verdict
See A36 versus A56 for a direct comparison. The A56’s different main hardware and higher range position matter for buyers who actively edit video or multitask, while a competitively priced A36 is a sensible everyday purchase. Confirm exact memory, colour, local warranty and accessories before paying.
