TCL 85P8L 85 inch Premium QLED Mini LED TV (2026)

TCL 85P8L 85-inch Premium QLED Mini LED TV in Kenya

The TCL 85P8L is an 85-inch premium large-screen TV that combines Mini LED backlighting with QLED colour technology, an HVA panel, a native 144Hz refresh rate and Google TV. It is designed for customers who want a cinema-scale screen for movies, football, streaming and modern console or PC gaming.

85-inch 4K large-screen viewing

The 85-inch screen delivers an immersive viewing experience for spacious living rooms, entertainment rooms, offices and home-cinema setups. Its 4K UHD panel is suited to high-resolution streaming, sports and gaming where the larger screen can show more fine detail.

Mini LED + QLED picture technology

TCL combines Mini LED backlighting with QLED technology on the P8L. Mini LED uses a more precise backlight system to improve light control, while QLED technology is designed to produce richer and more vivid colour. TCL lists a 93% DCI-P3 wide colour gamut for the P8L range.

HVA panel and strong native contrast

The TCL 85P8L uses an HVA panel. TCL states that the 85-inch model can achieve a native contrast ratio of up to 6500:1, helping dark scenes retain depth while bright highlights remain distinct.

Full Array Local Dimming

Full Array Local Dimming allows different areas of the backlight to be controlled more precisely. This helps improve black levels, highlight detail and overall contrast when watching films, HDR content or dark scenes.

144Hz native refresh rate

The P8L has a 144Hz native refresh rate, making fast-moving sports, racing, action films and games look smoother than on a conventional 60Hz TV. TCL also supports a 288Hz Game Accelerator mode through supported HDMI sources, with HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 used for this high-refresh gaming feature.

TCL AI picture processing

TCL’s AiPQ processing system uses picture-enhancement algorithms for contrast, colour, clarity, motion and HDR. MEMC motion processing helps reduce blur and judder in fast-moving content, while AI HDR processing is designed to optimise compatible HDR material.

Google TV smart experience

The TCL 85P8L runs on Google TV, bringing streaming apps, entertainment recommendations and smart-TV services into one interface. A Google Account, TCL Account and reliable broadband connection are required for the full set of smart features and services.

ONKYO 2.1 Hi-Fi sound

The 85-inch P8L includes an ONKYO 2.1-channel Hi-Fi audio system with a dedicated subwoofer. This gives the TV a fuller built-in sound system for films, music and sports compared with basic stereo TV speakers.

Gaming-ready large screen

The combination of 4K resolution, 144Hz native refresh rate, Gamebar features, MEMC and high-refresh HDMI support makes the TCL 85P8L a strong option for PlayStation, Xbox and compatible gaming PCs. For the highest supported refresh modes, use the appropriate HDMI port and compatible source settings.

Slim unibody design

Despite its very large screen size, the P8L uses a slim unibody design intended to fit cleanly into modern living spaces. Because an 85-inch television is large and heavy, customers should confirm wall or stand dimensions and use a suitable rated mounting solution where required.
