Updated: 5 September 2026. This Infinite Tech Kenya Smartphone Price Index is an editorial market tracker built from current prices in the Infinite Tech WooCommerce catalogue. It is designed to help Kenyan buyers, journalists, bloggers and researchers understand where smartphone prices are clustering across major brands.

Important: this is not Kenya’s official Consumer Price Index and it is not a survey of every retailer in Kenya. It is a transparent retail-catalogue snapshot based on a manually reviewed sample of 68 currently listed smartphone prices surfaced from Infinite Tech across Samsung, Apple iPhone, Tecno, Infinix, Google Pixel and Redmi. Prices and stock change, so linked product/category pages remain the live commercial reference.

What the September 2026 sample suggests

Sub-KSh 30,000 is the centre of gravity: half of the reviewed prices are below roughly KSh 30,000, and the KSh 15,000–29,999 band is the single largest group.
Brand choice changes the shape of the market: Tecno and Infinix contribute heavily to entry/value bands, while Apple and Samsung create a much longer premium tail.
Storage and exact variant matter: the same phone family can move materially in price between 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB configurations.
Older flagships create cross-segment competition: previous-generation Samsung and iPhone flagships can overlap with current upper-mid-range devices.
Live product pages matter more than copied prices: promotions and stock can change faster than editorial pages.

How Infinite Tech builds this index

For this edition, Infinite Tech reviewed current WooCommerce prices surfaced from published catalogue listings and retained smartphone entries from six major brand groups. Accessories, repairs, tablets, watches and clearly out-of-scope products were excluded from the tracked sample. The analysis uses current listed prices rather than old prices copied into articles.

The index reports a sample median, arithmetic average, minimum, maximum and the share of tracked prices in five practical Kenyan shopping bands. It does not claim to measure national inflation, all Kenyan retailers, transaction prices, wholesale prices or market share.
