Pixel 7a vs Pixel 8a quick comparison

Price and value

The Pixel 7a currently saves roughly KSh 12,500 compared with Pixel 8a. That makes it attractive for buyers focused on price. Pixel 8a has to earn the premium through its newer Tensor G3 platform, smoother 120Hz display capability and stronger long-term support proposition.

Display

Both are compact 6.1-inch phones, but Pixel 8a increases refresh-rate capability to 120Hz compared with up to 90Hz on Pixel 7a. Buyers sensitive to scrolling smoothness and animation fluidity will notice this difference more than buyers who keep their phones in power-saving modes.

Performance

Pixel 7a uses Tensor G2 while Pixel 8a uses Tensor G3. Both have 8GB RAM in the compared configurations. The newer Tensor generation provides Pixel 8a with a more recent platform for Google’s software and image-processing features.

Cameras

The headline rear camera resolutions are similar: both use 64MP wide and 13MP ultrawide systems. Real differences therefore depend more on generation-specific processing and feature support than raw megapixel numbers. Buyers should not assume Pixel 8a doubles camera quality simply because it is newer.

Battery

Pixel 8a has a slightly larger typical battery at 4492mAh compared with 4385mAh on Pixel 7a. Real battery life depends on signal, display refresh rate, brightness, camera use and background apps.

Software support

Google currently places Pixel 7a in its five-year update group, counted from first Google Store availability, while Pixel 8a is in the seven-year update group. That gives Pixel 8a a materially longer official support commitment. Buyers should still weigh that against the current price gap and the condition of the exact unit.

Who should buy Pixel 7a?

• Buyers trying to stay near KSh 35,000.
