How Long Does a 650VA, 850VA or 1000VA UPS Last?
Summary: You cannot determine battery minutes from VA alone. Runtime depends mainly on usable battery energy, connected watts, efficiency and battery age. Any claim of a fixed number of minutes without a specific model and load is misleading.

VA rating is not battery energy
650VA, 850VA and 1000VA describe apparent-power capacity, not the amount of energy available in the battery. Two models with identical VA ratings can have different battery sizes. The real watt rating also determines which loads are safe, but it does not tell you how long the device can run.
What battery size means
Battery energy is sometimes approximated with voltage multiplied by amp-hours, but that is a nominal figure, not the energy guaranteed to reach your devices. UPS inverter losses, battery discharge characteristics, temperature and minimum cut-off voltage reduce usable energy. Asking for a run-time chart at your load is preferable to assuming the arithmetic alone determines minutes.
Illustrative calculation—not a Lightwave promise
Imagine a hypothetical system with 60Wh of usable output energy and a connected load of 120W. Dividing 60 by 120 gives 0.5 hours, or 30 minutes. That example does not describe any of the Lightwave models sold by Infinite Tech. Actual UPS batteries deliver different usable energy at high discharge rates, so a real unit may perform very differently.
How your computer changes the outcome
A modest office PC at idle may need much less energy than the same machine compiling code or gaming. Adding a monitor, router or speakers further increases load. High current draw can also shrink battery performance more rapidly than the simple energy equation suggests. Measure the total system while the demanding applications are running.
Comparing the three Lightwave listings
Consider the Lightwave 650VA UPS, Lightwave 850VA UPS and Lightwave 1000VA UPS only after obtaining battery and output-watt details for each. Do not infer that the 1000VA model must run longer than the 650VA; higher capacity could be intended for more load rather than extra backup duration.
How to get a reliable answer before ordering
Give Infinite Tech the equipment list, expected watts and your desired minutes of uptime. Ask for the exact model label, battery specification and a manufacturer runtime chart. If these are unavailable, treat any estimate as provisional and prioritize an initial real-load test after installation.
Frequently asked questions
Will a 650VA UPS run for 30 minutes?
No fixed runtime can be promised without the exact model, battery and load.
Does a bigger UPS always last longer?
No; battery energy and load matter, not only VA.
Can I use a UPS for hours?
Only if the specific UPS/battery system is designed and sized for that duration.
