The wall mount must match the TV’s VESA hole spacing, weight, intended tilt or swivel, and the wall construction. VESA dimensions cannot be guessed from inches

A VESA pattern describes the horizontal and vertical spacing of mounting points on the TV’s rear, measured in millimetres. Two 65-inch televisions can have different mounting requirements. For example, LG’s 65QNED70A6A reference documentation gives a 300 × 200 mm VESA pattern, but do not apply that measurement to another LG SKU without its own sheet. Confirm the exact full model and use the bracket manufacturer’s weight and size limits.

Check the wall and room layout

A sound wall and properly installed anchors matter more than the bracket’s marketing claims. Plasterboard, masonry and different wall constructions require different approaches. Decide whether a fixed, tilting or articulating mount suits the room and whether the wall can handle the forces of an extended arm. Bring in a qualified installer when uncertain.

Plan cabling and a soundbar

Before drilling, confirm the electrical outlet, HDMI/eARC cables, aerial connections, Wi-Fi reception and any soundbar cable path. A close-fitting mount can make side or rear ports difficult to reach. Leave the manufacturer-specified ventilation clearance and avoid trapping cables behind the television. Consider whether the soundbar will sit on furniture or use a separate compatible bracket.

Special considerations for large TVs
